Okay - as discussed, yes, I think this has the makings of an engaging approach - and your principle challenge is to somehow tone down the less-than-positive connotations of 'an open-plan office full of drones' - and instead dial up the idea of the happy, busy workforce. This really is a design issue - creating a soft world, as opposed to a dystopian bee-hive. You might want to consider creating a more curvacious version of the cubicle office: more this:
I also thought about this animation - Slimtime - as a possible helpful source of inspiration; yes, it's got shades of creepiness, but there's something soft about the environment that might inspire - likewise the design and depiction of the various gadgets and the devices.
We've talked already about choice of music, and I know you know what effect it should produce, so I look forward to hearing some choices.
I want you to get this idea into a 'thumbnail animatic' stage as soon as possible - i.e. committing quickly to the challenges of not only visualising this world, but dealing with its staging, time and structure of info. Ideally, you should seek to have a thumbnail animatic (+ sounds/music) by Tuesday at the latest, so you can really finesse your knowledge of your film before you prepare the presentation animatic etc. for the pitch. Don't delay, Meg - certainly, the scenes inside the 'photocopier' are really going to need some thinking about, so start thinking in terms of thumbnails + timeline + sound asap.
I look forward to see this idea take shape over the next few days - and DON'T hide it - get it out there - and this is why!
