Life Drawing 16.10.12
These first drawings were 2 minutes poses, followed by two 5 minute poses for which I used charcoal. For the last image I was focusing on the light and shadow on the figure.
Life Drawing 09.10.12
These are my drawings from my third class. The first were quick 2 minute poses that I captured using charcoal. For the next longer pose, I used pencil.

Thumbnails 1 - 6
Here are my first six thumbnails for the Room of Roots. 1 - 3 are some of my initial sketches, and 4 is my first using Photoshop. When creating these thumbnails I was trying to get a feel of what the room would look like and I decided I wanted to explore the possibility of a circular or odd shaped room, thumbnails 5 and 6 are examples of this.
I feel that a room with rounded walls and multiple surfaces would enable me to achieve the labyrinth like environment described in the book.

Space and Environment: Cinematic Spaces

'Titus Groan' is the first novel in the 'Gormenghast' series by Mervyn Peake
This is the first of three excerpts I was given as source material for this assignment.

Life Drawing 02.10.12
These are my drawings from my second class. During this lesson we were asked to focus on the negative space when drawing the figure. I am happy with my sketches from this week, especially the two above as I was able to finish them within the given time.
Life Drawing 25.09.12
Here are my drawings from my first life drawing class. The first image was drawn in 20 minutes and although it isn't finished I'm quite pleased with what I was able to sketch. For the next sketches we were given 1-2 minutes for each pose, before completing another 20 minute sketch. For the final image I was asked to capture the figure and surrounding space.
